Dance -our next new beginners course starts from 30 September 2021 at Gwaelod-y-Garth Village Hall

Adults Dance Classes

During the current health crisis our dance classes were all postponed . We have been keeping in touch  and are gradually  getting back on to the dancefloor with most of our regular clients.

If you are looking for a new class to join we are taking new beginners again from this September.

Dance is one of the most popular UK leisure pastimes and millions attend a class each week. Popular trends may come and go but Dance itself always evolves and is here to stay!

Research shows dancing helps keep the mind sharp, improves balance, posture, fitness and, can even help to improve the quality of your life. Dancers become quicker-thinking and lighter on their feet. By learning to lead and follow, couples can improve their communication skills and, because you can choose to learn with others in class it can also be a great boost to your social life too.

We have been teaching our own classes in Cardiff for 23 plus years. You can learn to Dance with us either by joining in a group class (held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays) or if you prefer by taking private lessons (available daytime or evenings from Tuesdays to Fridays).

In our Dance classes we will both teach you. You benefit from the experience of two teachers and get tuition from both the male and female dancer’s perspective. We learned Ballroom and Latin American Dance together as a couple from beginner level upwards, so we understand how you are likely to feel throughout the learning process and aim to help you along the way.

About our classes

Beginners (enrolling now for September) – although small classes ( usually maximum of 8 couples) these are often our most popular classes for people wanting to get started. Courses run progressively to let you build up your dancing skills. If you are starting off with no experience, by the end you should be able to dance a short sequence of basic steps in at least 4 or 5 dances (waltz, quickstep, social foxtrot, cha-cha, rumba etc.).

New courses start throughout the  year.  The next course due to begin weekly on Thursdays at 7pm, starts from the revised date of 30 September 2021.

If you want to join please e-mail or phone for more information.

Improvers (Tuesdays at 7.30pm)– This is a class for those who have covered the basics at beginner level (either with us or elsewhere) and want to continue dancing . We teach more steps and add extra dances (e.g. tango, jive etc.). If you have previous basic experience and want to join us from this level speak to us first, to check if this class is going to be suitable for you .

Intermediates (Wednesdays at 8.00pm)–  our most advanced group class. We aim to improve on dance technique, add some more difficult dances (e.g. slow foxtrot, samba) and include more choreography. If you are looking for a class to join at this level it is best to speak to us first, to check if this class will be suitable for your personal level of knowledge.

We have been on a long break from the dance-floor so when this class returns to the hall on 8th September we will be recapping our dances  very slowly.

As well as group classes we also give:-

Private tuition/ 1 to 1s . Many people prefer not to join weekly for a regular group class and like to learn at their own pace, at times that work for them, without being part of a group.

Wedding dance choreography and tuition. We teach couples preparing for their special occasion who only want to perfect just one special dance.

Semi-private classes for small groups of friends/family.

All of these can be arranged with us by appointment.

We try to organise a couple of events throughout the year that all our classes may join in, to meet up socially and enjoy dancing together .

Gift packages – As a popular gift idea, you can book a private lesson or pre-paid block of lessons to be given to someone special (or even better shared with them) as a gift.

National Association of Teachers of Dancing –as member teachers of this Association we can offer the opportunity for students to take amateur medal tests for those that wish to participate.

Other dance events such as short courses, dancing parties for special occasions, or short workshops may be arranged on request.

Our main Dance programme of classes runs in the lovely village of Gwaelod-y-Garth in North Cardiff.  Group classes on Tuesdays , Wednesdays and Thursdays  are held at The Village Hall (a spacious hall with dedicated parking for hall users, in the school car park is just a few minutes drive from A470 and M4/J32).

at Canolfan Community Church Centre, Rhiwbina, Cardiff for private lessons.

Private lessons can be booked all year round by appointment (at either venue).
