Adults Dance Classes
Dance is one of the most popular UK leisure pastimes and millions attend a class each week. Popular trends may come and go but Dance itself always evolves and is here to stay!
Research shows dancing helps keep the mind sharp, improves balance, posture, fitness and, can even help to improve the quality of your life. Dancers become quicker-thinking and lighter on their feet. By learning to lead and follow, couples can improve their communication skills and, because you can choose to learn with others in class it can also be a great boost to your social life too.
We have been teaching in Cardiff for over 20 years and you can learn to Dance with us either by joining a group class (held on Tuesdays or Wednesdays) or if you prefer by taking private lessons (available daytime/evenings Tuesdays to Fridays).
In most of our Dance classes we will both teach you, so you benefit from the experience of two teachers. We provide tuition from the male and female dancer’s perspective and, as we learned Ballroom and Latin American Dance together as a couple from beginner level upwards, we understand how you are likely to feel throughout the learning process and aim to help you along the way.
Beginners – often our largest and most popular classes. Courses run progressively so that you build up your dancing skills. Starting with no experince, by the end you should be able to dance a short sequence of basic steps in at least 4 or 5 dances (waltz, quickstep, social foxtrot, cha-cha, rumba etc.).
New courses start twice per year each September and January.
Our next new course starts on Tuesday evenings from
23 January 2018, 7.30 to 8.30pm at Gwaelod-y-Garth Village Hall, Cardiff.
If you are a complete beginner we would love to see you there.
Improvers – this class is for those who have covered the basics at beginner level and want to continue dancing . We teach more steps and add extra dances (e.g. tango, jive etc.). If you wish to join us from this level it is best to speak to us first, to check if this class is suitable for you.
Intermediates – this class is our most advanced group class. We aim to improve dance technique, add some more difficult dances (e.g. slow foxtrot, samba) and include more choreography.
Private tuition/ 1 to 1s / choreography and tuition for wedding dances – This may suit you if you cannot commit to joining a regular group class, or if you prefer to learn at your own pace without being part of a group.
We teach couples preparing for a special occasion that only want to perfect one special dance such as the first dance for their wedding, for example. We also teach semi-private classes for small groups of friends.
All of these can be arranged with us by appointment.
We aim to have a couple of events throughout the year so that all our students may meet up socially and dance together.
